Thank you for visiting my website. You can find how-to’s and free printables on my blog. My intention here is to have a little space outside of multinational technology/e-commerce conglomerates to share my art. Yet I’m still politely pointing to my Etsy store!
For the time being, all available art can be found in my Etsy store.
I’m now on Bluesky. You can still find me on Instagram. You can also contact me by e-mail: fionabarnacle@gmail.com
Bio
Fiona Barnacle is an artist and naturalist living off-grid in the woods of Southern Oregon. She makes her art by hand in a small solar-powered cabin. Fiona received her certificate in 2012 from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with a focus on printmaking. She loves puns, postcards, punk rock and alliteration. Fiona lives with her partner, Lance, a.k.a. Pest Habitats. Lance is also an artist and creates large earthen sculptures in the forest. They enjoy observing their wildlife neighbors together.
Statement
Biodiversity is my passion. The woodlands of my home offer a glimpse of a wild Pacific Northwest. Although surrounding areas have been heavily logged, the remaining old growth Douglas fir forests, rivers and canyons still provide habitat for my animal neighbors. For over a decade I’ve been carving block prints. I’m influenced by both scientific illustration and turn-of-the-century decorative arts, especially vintage wood engravings. With minimal modern machinery, I use roughly the same techniques that a medieval printmaker would recognize. Up-to-date scientific information informs my illustrations of flora and fauna.
